MVMCS Hiking Club – Fruita Paleo Area + Skinner Cabin

The MVMCS Hiking Club will be meeting at 1 pm on Saturday, February 22, for the next group hike (weather permitting) at the Fruita Paleo Area trailhead. We will first hike the Fruita Paleo Area (~0.7-mile loop), followed by the Skinner Cabin Trail (~1.8 mile loop, off the paleo area trail). Twenty vivid, artistic renderings help to interpret the area’s geologic and paleontological history.

Please note: parents are expected to accompany their children. Come prepared with layers – particularly gloves and a hat, and warm, sturdy shoes. Please also bring a pack with water and snacks. One or both of our hike leaders will carry a first aid kit. It is advisable to bring a change of shoes to put on after the hike unless you particularly enjoy a lot of mud in your vehicle.
There is a pit toilet in the parking lot, so please be sure to hit that up before starting the hike!
